| If you've even wondered just
what the inside of Sleaford Maltings was like, then wonder no more.
There's a marvellous opportunity for 48 people to do just that -
but it's strictly on a first come, first served basis. Sleaford
Maltings will open its doors as part of the county's Heritage Open
Days weekend in early September. Four tours have been arranged on
Friday and Saturday September 10 and 11. The four tours start
at 2pm and 3.30pm on Friday, September 10, and at 2pm and 3.30pm on
Saturday, September 11.
It should be noted that the buildings are in their original state
with access via stairways. Therefore, at this stage, the tours are
likely to be unsuitable for people with mobility problems.
It is essential to book. Just contact the Sleaford Tourist
Information Centre, in Money's Yard, Sleaford, telephone 01529
414294.
Cogglesford Mill will also be a part of the Heritage Open Days
weekend. On Saturday and Sunday, September 11 and 12, the Mill will
open between 11am and 4pm.
There will be exhibitions and displays, plus regular milling on
both days and refreshments served on the Sunday. On both days,
there will also be talks about the History of Bee Keeping. Once
again, booking is important. Just contact the Tourist Information
Centre to reserve your place.
To coincide with the Heritage Open Days weekend, the ever popular
Model and Hobbies Day is also being held at the Cranwell Aviation
Heritage Centre, at Heath Farm, North Rauceby. This aviation
treat allows visitors to see model makers at work and have the
opportunity to talk to them about their projects and the various
skills involved. As well as the other hobbies and skills on
show there will be children's activities and refreshments, plus all
the fascinating exhibits at the Aviation Centre. These include
a Jet Provost aircraft and computerised flight simulator, the video
theatre showing archive film, Vampire aircraft pod and souvenir
shop.
