Insight into the Gladedale Group
Established in 1992, Gladedale has grown rapidly and is an established major national house builder and property development company within the UK. The Gladedale Group has grown and evolved to cover the majority of the UK with a diverse mix of product and skill sets to deliver a wide range of developments from volume residential, high-density urban schemes to sensitive heritage, mixed use and pure commercial developments.
Headquartered in Epsom, Surrey and Stirling in Scotland, Gladedale has offices throughout the UK and has become one of the fastest growing companies in the UK property market. The company was founded by Gladedale’s Chairman Remo Dipre, who has been involved in property development and investment for more than 30 years.
Growth of Gladedale
In its early years, from conception in 1992, the Company, then operating as Gladedale Homes acquired a portfolio of predominantly brownfield and heritage sites that needed careful planning and promoting through the planning system. Some of these sites were 2–3 years in the planning process and were brought forward alongside small to medium sized projects in and around our base in Epsom.
The organic growth of Gladedale accelerated rapidly during 1999 and 2000, with substantial acquisitions being achieved of heritage, regeneration and mixed use sites in Dorset, Northampton and Shoebury Garrison in Essex.
Alongside the organic growth a decision was taken to expand the Group by the acquisition of existing companies, which were strategically targeted both geographically and by their target market. Gladedale successfully added to the Group with the acquisition of a number of companies, including the following:
Country and Metropolitan Homes; Bett Homes; Furlong Homes; Furlong City, Premier Homes; Arundale Homes, Whelmar Homes, Pelham Homes, Chorley Homes, Broseley Homes; Pelham Homes; Clarke Homes.
The Company re-branded in early 2007 and Gladedale is now the unified name for all previously named housing companies within the Group.
The rapid growth of the Group is highlighted by the Sunday Times Fast Track 100, Profit Track 100 and Top Track 100 successes in 2003, 2004, and 2005. In 2005 the Group turnover was just over £500 million.
Experience in Listed/Historic Buildings Refurbishment Schemes
Working closely with government organisations such as English Heritage, Gladedale are able to provide sensitive refurbishment schemes that preserve the country’s heritage and provide a valuable source of housing or employment.
Our refurbishment schemes are often located within Conservation Areas, Sites of Special Scientific Interest or Areas of High Ecological Importance, none of which would be possible without a firm understanding of the specialist requirements of developing a Listed Building and a keen interest in its preservation.
