The former Bass Maltings at Sleaford is one of the largest and most spectacular buildings of its type in the United Kingdom. It has gone through years of structural and aesthetic alterations, and areas of it are fire damaged beyond repair. The leasehold has been acquired by Gladedale Special Projects Ltd, a developer with a track record of regenerating historic buildings. Gladedale, architects Allen Tod and The Prince's Regeneration Trust are working closely with English Heritage and North Kesteven District Council on the project to deliver a well designed and sympathetic development that will rejuvenate the Bass Maltings for future generations.
In January 2009, applications for Planning and Listed Building Consent were registered by North Kesteven District Council. Proposals include the change of use of the former Bass Maltings to provide a mixed use development of 204 residential dwellings, healthcare and community facilities, retail and restaurant floor space, office space and associated open space and car parking. In addition 24 new houses are proposed to the east of the Maltings.
All the associated documents and plans are now available to view on this website here.
